F1 (2025) - 7/10
Days of Thunder was one of my favourite films growing up so I expected to like this, and I did. Sonny Hayes is certainly a cool dude but he's not quite Cole Trickle. Trickle - played by Tom Cruise, of course - races for the thrill of it, whereas Sonny Hayes does it to populate a spreadsheet about aerodynamic resistance data for his girlfriend. Sonny Hayes gets ice baths whilst teaching us about teamwork and driver telemetry, whereas Cole Trickle shouts a lot whilst teaching us that gritting your teeth and driving through fire is the answer to all your emotional problems. I've got no interest in F1 as a sport - nor NASCAR for that matter - but this is a good film and worth a watch. Although, I suspect real F1 fans may see too many holes in the plot, but who knows.
