Mass (2021) - 7/10

This is about the meeting of two sets of parents who's children have been involved in the same tragedy, although each with totally different roles within it. It is a proper misery-fest so is right up my street. As a parent, it's a difficult watch. It brings home just how far the apple can fall from the tree. And how little you might know about that apple until it becomes a really, really bad apple. My eldest is only five and I can already see my influence on him decreasing as his schooling and what his friends say to him and what he watches on YouTube are all, largely, out of my control. And that will only increase as he grows older. Parents still play a massive role in forming the person their children will become, but, ultimately, there's only so much they can do, and this film displays that in a brilliant and terrifying way.
