"I look back on the way I was then: a young, stupid kid who committed that terrible crime. I want to talk to him. I want to try and talk some sense to him, tell him the way things are. But I can't. That kid's long gone and this old man is all that's left. I got to live with that. Rehabilitated? It's just a bullshit word. So you go on and stamp your form, sonny, and stop wasting my time. Because to tell you the truth, I don't give a shit."
The Shawshank Redemption is the perfect movie. Frank Darabont's brilliantly turned Stephen King's novella into the greatest movie ever made. Andy Dufresne was a successful banker who was charged with the murder of his wife and her lover. He is sentenced to life in prison for each of the murders. In prison he meets a man named Red, who happens to be the only guilty man in Shawshank prison. His friendship with Andy and the lessons they learn together help make this movie the classic that it is.
This film is on Channel 4 at least twice a year - I watch it every time. Everytime I watch it it is as good as the first time. Clearly this is an all time classic.
Well well well..Is this the greatest film of all time? I think it might be.. I fucking love this film .. It makes me feel good everytime I watch it and I've watched it over 20 times… The storyline is quality and the ending better.
Top of most peoples list, but prob not mine, still such a truly amazing movie, touching and powerful.. Always good a second time round too coz there's so much to absorb.. Acting at it's best, deserves its recogniton.. Still dont like the sisters tho!
A great story, wonderfully converted from the book and there in lies its secret, its almost faithfull to the orginal Stephen King story. Cause thats where all these book to movies fall down, the story is always good, its just the movies that are crap.
Universally loved, and rightly so. A true epic.
